Distillation Column Length Design And Manufacturing

The length design of a distillation column needs to comprehensively consider factors such as separation requirements, throughput, and operating pressure. Typically, to improve separation efficiency and meet specific product purity requirements, the height of a distillation column may reach tens of meters. However, excessively long columns present numerous challenges during manufacturing, transportation, and installation.

In the manufacturing stage, for columns exceeding the conventional processing range, a segmented manufacturing method can be adopted. The column is divided into several sections, manufactured and tested in the factory, and then transported to the site for assembly. The length of each column section must be designed according to the height, width, and length limits of transport vehicles and the capabilities of on-site lifting equipment, generally controlled within a range that facilitates transportation and installation, such as a single section length not exceeding 12-15 meters.

During segmented manufacturing, dimensional accuracy control of each section is particularly critical. The roundness, straightness, and end flatness of the column must strictly meet design requirements to ensure smooth connection during on-site assembly and guarantee the overall performance of the column.
