Fired Heater in Refinery

Fired Heater in Refinery
Details:
As a highly efficient heating solution for refining processes, it is also one of the core thermal energy equipment in refining units. It can be applied to key process sections such as CDU, VDU, hydrotreating, reforming and delayed coking. By burning fuel to generate high-temperature heat, it heats process media to the target temperature, ensuring stable operation of refining processes.

Distillation Column

High-efficiency radiant and convection structure for improved thermal efficiency.

The core strength of our refinery fired heater lies in its heat utilization efficiency. The heater adopts a combined Radiant Section + Convection Section design to maximize thermal energy recovery.

In the radiant section, high-temperature flames transfer heat directly to the furnace tubes through radiation, enabling rapid heating of the process medium. The convection section recovers waste heat from flue gas to preheat the feedstock or combustion air.

This structure fully recovers residual heat from flue gas, allowing the overall refinery process heater to achieve a thermal efficiency of 92%–94%, higher than the 85%–88% efficiency of conventional industrial heaters. Fuel consumption can be reduced by approximately 6%–10%. This results in significant annual fuel cost savings, lower energy consumption and carbon emissions, and improved energy efficiency indicators for the entire unit.

High-Temperature Alloy Furnace Tubes for Extended Service Life

Process tubes in industrial fired heaters are subject to high temperatures and harsh chemical environments, which affect equipment service life. ChunLei's fired heaters adopt centrifugally cast heat-resistant alloy tubes, including HK40, HP Micro Alloy, and Cr-Ni heat-resistant alloy steels. These materials maintain outstanding creep resistance above 1000°C, with superior carburization resistance and thermal fatigue resistance.

By optimizing alloy compositions and centrifugal casting processes, we extend the service life of the tubes to more than 100,000 operating hours.

Low-NOx Combustion System for Stable Combustion and Environmentally Friendly Emissions

The combustion system determines the operational stability and emission performance of fired heaters. Our refinery fired heaters are equipped with low-NOx burners and staged combustion technology, which enable precise control of the fuel-air mixing ratio. This ensures stable and uniform flame patterns, eliminates local overheating, and promotes more complete fuel combustion for enhanced heat release efficiency.NOₓ emissions can be controlled at 30–50 ppm, ensuring high heating efficiency while meeting increasingly stringent environmental emission standards.

FAQ

Q: What is the typical thermal efficiency of a refinery furnace?

A: The thermal efficiency of modern industrial process heaters for refineries is generally between 90% and 94%, depending on the furnace structure, combustion system, and flue gas waste heat recovery design. Optimizing the radiant and convective heat transfer structure can significantly improve overall energy efficiency.

Q: How are furnace tube materials selected?

A: Furnace tube materials are usually selected based on process temperature and medium environment. For high-temperature refining processes, common materials include HK40, HP Micro Alloy, and Cr-Ni heat-resistant alloy steels. These materials maintain excellent creep resistance and oxidation resistance at temperatures above 1000°C.

Q: What is the typical service life of a refinery furnace?

A: Under normal operating conditions, the overall design life of a refinery furnace is generally 20 to 25 years, while the service life of high-temperature alloy furnace tubes is typically 8 to 12 years, depending on process temperature and operating load.

Q: Can custom design be provided?

A: Yes. We can provide custom design according to the customer's specific process parameters, including heat duty, fuel type, furnace tube material, equipment configuration, and installation space requirements, to ensure optimal matching between the heater and the refining unit.
